Earthrise Evenings are our series of community events for food and farming. Expect access to an incredible lineup of speakers, workshops and discussions hosted this October in Bermondsey.

The events will be held at Natoora Dockley Road, Bermondsey. A welcome drink and seasonal snacks are included in your ticket price, with wine from Ancestrel/Newcomer, beers from Kernel and Momo x Natoora Watermelon kombucha available to buy on the evening. All tickets are £15 per person. 100% of proceeds go to Farm Fund.

Get hands on with Robyn Minogue of the Gaia Foundation, Natoora’s Head of Education Clementine Hain-Cole and The Seed Detective himself, Adam Alexander, for an exclusive seed discussion and demo.

They’ll be championing the right to seed sovereignty which is — at its core — the right to food. Head down and be part of a grassroots movement reclaiming the right of farmers to save, use, exchange and sell their own seeds.

‘Field to fork’, ‘eat your view’ and ‘food miles’ — all popular concepts today, but how deep do they penetrate? The buzz around ‘local’ seems to be louder, but is this reflected in policy and, most importantly, should it be?

We will be joined by two of the most compelling and informed voices in the conversation today. Adele Jones of the Sustainable Food Trust and writer, podcaster and academic Anna Sulan Masing will be with us to unpick some of the complexities and biases of the localism narrative.

Ultimately, we ask whether a local food system is something something we should aspire to or whether our focus be more holistic. Have we positioned globalism as the antithesis of life and diversity in our food system where, in fact, it is the pursuit of yield and efficiency is to blame?
