MEET THE GROWERS
Meet the small-scale growers behind each product. We’ll share the ways they’re fighting to transform the food system from the ground up as they deliver phenomenal flavor.
MAX & MARIA - Hudson, New York
It’s our fourth year working with Max and Maria, who grow an extensive list of vegetables, many of which we are sourcing through the fall and winter.
Operating under the belief system that soil health is essential to the well-being of their on-farm ecosystem, in any season, Max and Maria set aside acreage to be in soil-enhancing cover crops. Crop rotation allows them to minimize pest and disease pressure, rest fields periodically, maintain a good program of weed reduction, and build organic matter.
ROSCOE - Stockton, California
A third-generation grower in the Sacramento San Joaquin River Valley. Today, he is one of the few remaining growers committed to preserving the region's heritage by producing some of the best asparagus. With the industry at such risk of disappearing, we feel fortunate to continue to work with Roscoe to preserve generations of knowledge and education so ingrained in the region.
Beyond Asparagus, he is always looking for new things to grow that other people don't do that are suited to his area, like Prince of Orange Fingerling Potatoes.
AMANDA - Barre, Vermont
Amanda is an incredibly committed, organic vegetable grower in Barre, Vermont. Since 2010, she has grown a highly diversified range of organic vegetables on rich upland soil. She chooses varieties that shine in Vermont’s cooler growing season, specializing in chicories, root crops, and leafy greens. Amanda seeks out varieties noted for their shape, texture, color, and taste profiles.
She was one of the recipients of the Farm Fund in 2023. The grant will help Amanda extend her forced radicchio production and invest in fences and irrigation to protect her crops against their greatest threats — white-tailed deer and late-summer drought.

GO #OFFTHEPASSSee all
We exist to fix the food system.
People are more cut off from the origins of their food than ever. This makes flavor, nutrition and farming practices that protect the planet, almost impossible to find.
By working directly with growers, we create a more sustainable way forward for farming. By giving everyone the tools to understand the power of our food choices, we empower everybody to become drivers of change.
Now is the time for action. Join the food system revolution.
Go beyond four seasons
Each fruit and vegetable has its own season, with subtle shifts which happen every day. Follow their microseasons to unlock flavor at every stage.
WHAT’S IN SEASON?
Know where your food comes from
We know the name of the person behind everything we source. Recognize their growing artistry to find out exactly where your food comes from (and why that matters).
MEET THE GROWERS
Make your diet diverse
Our growers work with varieties chosen for quality and nutrition, not yield. By selecting their crops you keep heritage seeds in play, add to ecosystem biodiversity and preserve unique flavors.
